RecruitAPI

How-to guide

Connect JobAdder to Microsoft Copilot.

Each consultant connects their JobAdder login to RecruitAPI. Someone builds a JobAdder agent in Copilot Studio and publishes it to Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot, and consultants authorise it the first time they use it.

  • 13 steps
  • Someone with Copilot Studio builds the agent, then each consultant connects
  • Nothing to install

Before you start

What you need.

  • Microsoft 365 with access to Copilot Studio
  • A Microsoft admin to approve the agent
  • A RecruitAPI account (or an invitation from your team)
  • Your own JobAdder login

Part 1

Connect JobAdder to RecruitAPI.

Each consultant, once. You do this in RecruitAPI, not in the AI tool.

  1. 1

    Sign in to RecruitAPI

Go to app.recruitapi.com and sign in. If a colleague invited you, accept the invitation first.

  2. 2

    Connect JobAdder

Open Settings, then JobAdder, and click Connect JobAdder. Sign in with your own JobAdder login (not a shared one) and allow access. You’ll see Connected and your agency’s name.

If it says “JobAdder MCP isn’t active”, your team needs an active subscription. Ask whoever manages billing.

  3. 3

    Copy the connector URL

Open Settings, then AI assistants, and copy the connector URL. You’ll paste it into your AI tool.

    https://app.recruitapi.com/mcp/jobadder

Part 2

Build the agent.

Someone with Copilot Studio access, once.

  1. 1

    Create an agent

Go to copilotstudio.microsoft.com and create a new agent (or open an existing one). Call it JobAdder and describe what it’s for, e.g. “Answers questions about our candidates, clients and jobs in JobAdder.”

  2. 2

    Add the MCP tool

Open the Tools tab, click Add a tool, then New tool, and choose Model Context Protocol.

  3. 3

    Enter the server details

Name it JobAdder, add a short description and paste the connector URL. Set authentication to OAuth 2.0 with dynamic discovery, then click Create.

    https://app.recruitapi.com/mcp/jobadder

  4. 4

    Add it to the agent

Create a new connection, sign in to RecruitAPI and click Authorise, then click Add to agent.

  5. 5

    Test it

In the Test pane, ask a question like the one below and check the answer comes from JobAdder.

Show me my five most recent activities in JobAdder.

Part 3

Publish it.

The agent’s builder, then a Microsoft admin.

  1. 1

    Publish the agent

Click Publish. Then open Channels, choose Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot, and add the channel.

  2. 2

    Make it available

Choose who can use it and submit it for approval. A Microsoft admin approves it in the Microsoft 365 admin centre, under Integrated apps (or in the Teams admin centre).

Part 4

Connect and ask.

Each consultant.

  1. 1

    Open the agent

In Teams or Microsoft 365 Copilot, find JobAdder in the agents list and open it.

  2. 2

Sign in to RecruitAPI and authorise

The first time you ask something, the agent asks you to sign in. Sign in to RecruitAPI, check it’s asking to use your JobAdder connection, and click Authorise.

Nothing happens? Your browser may have blocked the pop-up. Allow pop-ups for the site and try again.

  3. 3

    Ask your first question

Ask in plain English, as you would anywhere else.

Show me my five most recent activities in JobAdder.

The agent asks you to confirm each change before it makes it in JobAdder.

Questions

If something’s not right.

Can’t see yours? Send us a message and we’ll get back to you.

I can’t find the agent in Teams.

It needs to be published to the Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot channel and approved by your Microsoft admin. Ask them to check Integrated apps in the Microsoft 365 admin centre.

I’m not asked to sign in.

The agent asks the first time it needs JobAdder. Ask a question about a candidate or job. If it still doesn’t, the builder should check the tool’s authentication is set to OAuth 2.0.

It says JobAdder isn’t connected.

In RecruitAPI, open Settings, then JobAdder. If it says Reconnect JobAdder, click it and sign in to JobAdder again. If you can’t connect at all, ask whoever manages your RecruitAPI team to check the subscription is active.

Can you help our Microsoft admin set it up?

Yes. Book a demo and we’ll walk your admin through it on a call.

How do I disconnect an AI tool?

In RecruitAPI, open Settings, then AI assistants, and click Revoke next to the app (or the bin next to a token). It loses access straight away.
