RecruitAPI

How-to guide

Connect JobAdder to Claude.

Connect your JobAdder login to RecruitAPI, add the JobAdder MCP to Claude as a custom connector, and start asking about candidates, clients and jobs. Works in Claude.ai, the desktop app and Claude Code.

  • 12 steps
  • An owner adds the connector once on Team and Enterprise
  • Nothing to install

Before you start

What you need.

  • A Claude Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan
  • A RecruitAPI account (or an invitation from your team)
  • Your own JobAdder login

Part 1

Connect JobAdder to RecruitAPI.

Each consultant, once. You do this in RecruitAPI, not in the AI tool.

  1. 1

    Sign in to RecruitAPI

Go to app.recruitapi.com and sign in. If a colleague invited you, accept the invitation first.

  2. 2

    Connect JobAdder

Open Settings, then JobAdder, and click Connect JobAdder. Sign in with your own JobAdder login (not a shared one) and allow access. You’ll see Connected and your agency’s name.

If it says “JobAdder MCP isn’t active”, your team needs an active subscription. Ask whoever manages billing.

  3. 3

    Copy the connector URL

Open Settings, then AI assistants, and copy the connector URL. You’ll paste it into your AI tool.

    https://app.recruitapi.com/mcp/jobadder

Part 2

Add the connector to Claude.

On Team and Enterprise, an owner does this once for everyone. On Pro and Max, do it yourself.

  1. 1

    Open Connectors

In Claude.ai, click your initials in the bottom-left corner. On Team or Enterprise, choose Admin settings, then Connectors. On Pro or Max, choose Settings, then Connectors.

  2. 2

    Add a custom connector

Click Add custom connector. Name it JobAdder and paste the connector URL. Leave the advanced settings empty and click Add.

    https://app.recruitapi.com/mcp/jobadder

Part 3

Connect and ask.

Each consultant.

  1. 1

    Click Connect

Open Settings, then Connectors, and click Connect next to JobAdder. On Team and Enterprise, if it isn’t there, ask your owner to add it.

  2. 2

Sign in to RecruitAPI and authorise

A RecruitAPI window opens. Sign in if asked, check it’s asking to use your JobAdder connection, and click Authorise. The window closes and you’re connected.

Nothing happens? Your browser may have blocked the pop-up. Allow pop-ups for the site and try again.

  3. 3

Turn JobAdder on in a chat

Start a new chat. Click the tools button below the message box and make sure JobAdder is switched on.

  4. 4

    Ask your first question

Type a question in plain English, like the one below. The first time Claude uses JobAdder it asks for permission. Choose Allow once, or Always allow for look-ups.

Show me my five most recent activities in JobAdder.

Claude always shows you a change before it makes it in JobAdder. Read it, then approve it or say no.

Part 4

Optional: Claude Code.

Anyone using Claude in the terminal.

  1. 1

    Create a personal access token

Command-line tools use a token instead of a sign-in window. In RecruitAPI, open Settings, then AI assistants. Under Personal access tokens, give it a name like “Claude Code on my laptop” and click Create token. Copy it straight away: it’s only shown once.

  2. 2

    Add the server

Run this in your terminal, with your token in place of <token>.

claude mcp add --transport http jobadder https://app.recruitapi.com/mcp/jobadder --header "Authorization: Bearer <token>"

  3. 3

    Check it’s connected

Start Claude Code and type /mcp. JobAdder should show as connected.

Questions

If something’s not right.

Can’t see yours? Send us a message and we’ll get back to you.

I can’t see Add custom connector.

Custom connectors need a Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan. On Team and Enterprise only owners can add them, so ask yours.

Claude isn’t using JobAdder.

Check JobAdder is switched on in the tools menu for this chat, and that it shows as connected in Settings, then Connectors. If it doesn’t, click Connect and authorise again.

It says JobAdder isn’t connected.

In RecruitAPI, open Settings, then JobAdder. If it says Reconnect JobAdder, click it and sign in to JobAdder again. If you can’t connect at all, ask whoever manages your RecruitAPI team to check the subscription is active.

Does it work in the Claude desktop app?

Yes. Connectors you add on Claude.ai show up in the desktop app too. There’s nothing extra to set up.

How do I disconnect an AI tool?

In RecruitAPI, open Settings, then AI assistants, and click Revoke next to the app (or the bin next to a token). It loses access straight away.
